Hey my fantastic fifth graders. Hang in there and we will keep working to get your lessons out to you. You all are my leaders of the Target program. You should be able to get on multiple sites. My plan is to start sending out links for you all to get onto that were much like the ones in class.
Classwork for the day or week.
1. Research- Continue to work on your Optical Illusions research for the Perspectives unit.
2. http://studio.code.org/sections/LTKRJV- 30 minutes of time. I will check my log in to see your progress. Let me know if you do not have your login secret word.
3. ELA- www.youTube.com- Type in kid books for optical illusions- Soooo cool!!
Choose a book to read! Write me a paragraph and email or share an Office 365 post telling me all about your book. Don't forget to include your name on the document.
4. Practice going to www.cobbk12.org - Parents- Office 365 log in- open where it says "all apps" - Scroll to the bottom to videos - then see all videos -
This is where all the Hands on Equations videos are housed. Practice the level you were on until I can get to the practice pages.
5th Grade Target- Week of April 13, 2020
Task 1- Finalize your SWAY presentation on perspectives. Please share through Office 365. Be sure to share an informational paper on what you did the SWAY on and what you learned through research.
Task 2
Name ______________ Date _________
Divergent Thinking activity
Part A- Design an inspirational t-shirt logo about COVID 19. Think of positive ideas for example, people helping people, global ideas, community, friends, etc. Use at least 4 colors. Use a separate piece of paper.
Part B- How creative can you be? Make your own face mask. Look around your home and use whatever resources you have to make your own mask. I can’t wait to see the final product.
Part C- List as many different resources you can think of to make a mask. Think of it like a STEM activity. Can you come up with at least 10, 15, maybe 20 different things to use. What if you were the engineer and were designing this?
Task 3- Find a great new book to begin if you aren’t already reading one. There are so many free sites out there. Did you know if you have a Kindle or Nook you can search free books for kids and a whole collection of classics will pull up. Time for Kids is free. If they ask for an order number, mine is 285745.
Look on www.commonlit.org or Newsela. Spend at least 30-45 minutes a day just reading.

Week of May 11, 2020
Divergent Thinking-
- Take another super up close photo so I can guess what it is. I enjoyed the photos sent in so far.
- Backwards writing- Write an inspirational quote or kind message backwards. Hold it up to a mirror and see if it is correct. Really cool to try. What if you had to relearn the whole alphabet with the letters being backwards instead of how you learned them?
Cognitive Thinking- Choose any papers given to you. Upper grades, continue to view the videos and work on your Hands on Equations.
Affective Thinking- It is healthy and fulfilling to write down your thoughts. In your journal, take time to reflect and write down your feelings. What has been on our mind lately? Take time to set new goals for yourself. 5th grade- Go to the middle school website of your school. Check out the clubs and what is offered to you.
